About Me

Seems like I've been taking pictures all my life. It began with black and white film and a very simple camera. Back then I would take 12 or 24 pictures and then wait for a long time before they were developed. Taking pictures is a simple thing--or at least I thought it was, but the results were unpredictable. In the 70's I bought a film single-lens-reflex(SLR) camera and my shots improved, but the results were still unpredictable. Now I own a digital SLR (actually more than one), and I still have to say that my results are unpredictable!

Photography should be simple. Its just a matter of focus and exposure--right? But somehow what we see in the viewfinder and what comes out on the screen or on the print can be quite different. Present day photography adds yet, another variable into the equation. We now see the pictures in the viewfinder (before they are taken), on the computer screen, and finally on the print. All three are often different. It takes a lot of skill and attention-to-detail to have all three look the same.

I'm an amateur photographer living in one of the more scenic places in the United States--the Front Range of Colorado. If you're familiar with the area, you'll probably recognize the photo above. Many of my photos were taken here in Colorado, but I also love the National Parks. I haven't been to all of them, yet. Someday--maybe.

I hope you enjoy these photos.

Joe
